Sri Lankan Instagram Flavour

Instagram feeds could always do with a little perking up – and nothing refreshes your daily scrolling like a little Sri Lankan flavor! Here are five of our favourite Instagram accounts that give us some fresh perspective on Sri Lankan life, food, fashion, and clicks!

1. Style in Sri Lanka (@styleinsrilanka)

Run by British photographer Alice Luker, this account will fill your feed with gorgeous images of Sri Lankan resorts, food and sometimes even fashion. Alice travels around the country visiting some of the most exotic hidden gems and is serious #wanderlust goals. My personal love is her amazing Sri lankan food shots – she makes kottu look like something from Masterchef!

2. Amalini De Sayrah (@amaliniii)

Amalini works in Media and Communications at the Center for Policy Alternatives, and her Instagram captures make you see the country through new eyes. From social issues, gorgeous sunsets, and beautiful hikes – Amalini uses Instagram as a story telling platform combining her pictures with lengthy captions that makes them so much richer. Her sunset pictures are to die for and the follow for that alone is completely worth it.

3. Nazly Ahmed (@nazlyahmed)

A hugely talented photographer – Nazly captures a side to Colombo rarely seen in glossy magazines and glamorous travel blogs. This feed has real people, the man serving tea, the kids playing cricket and the isso wade stalls of Galle Face. Being cricket-crazy he also has some great shots of practice nets and street cricket – giving you some classic urban flavor.

4. Sachi Ediriweera (@route345)

Sachi is a designer – and most of his work are done digitally with his artworks involving abstract subjects, pop culture, Sri Lankan yakas or a combination of all the above. Follow him for some graphic design inspiration that has a distinctly Sri Lankan flavor, and freshens your feed from real-time photographs.

5. Shakthi Ponniah (@islandadventurist)

Shakthi also uses her Instagram as a travel blog – and just for the food pictures alone the follow is needed! Discover hip lite cafes, private beaches down south and more through her charmed pictures that make you feel like you are there. Her style is great too and gives you some serious #islandvibes.
